I wonder what our friend Kristi would have to say about this?

  • Lol... I'm not surprised at all-- in fact I'm pretty sure I saw an episode of that show over the summer. Lebanon puts out some pretty crazy stuff and they've had shows with somewhat similar formats for years. The whole country seems to broadcast 50 stations of MTV-esque television all the time, and so there are variety-show formats and Star Search kinds of things that people watch constantly via sattelite (what EVERYONE has on their TV in the ME).

And they're not kidding about the prevalence of technology-- most if not all of the stations that play music videos have tickers at the bottom of the screen that have text messages from people all over the region: love messages, "shout outs", etc. They're far more advanced than the US in terms of popularizing their technology on a grand scale.
