A window into my soul that you can help build...

So I got me one of these Johari windows. Feel free to swing on by and tell me how you see me.

Middle of February... I figure it's time for an update, don't you think?

CASH: Currently standing at $11759.77, 78% of my $15,000 target, no thanks to Google...
COMPANIONSHIP: 2/3 complete. (Things are still slow with K, though we did end up going out last night. I'll fill you in on that later on...)
CATHOLICISM: Started on the book (which I procured from my church, how convenient). Two pages in, I fell asleep. Haven't touched it since.
CURVES: Current weight- 170.5 lbs. Yeah, real progress there.
CRUISIN': No progress.
COMEDY: No progress.
CONSORT: I'm trying. The Chinese New Year party notwithstanding, I think I've been okay here. Always room to improve, though.
CAREER: No progress.

Some random thoughts I've been meaning to get out of my head.

- Watching "#1 Single" right now. Boy, if Lisa Loeb has it this tough in the dating world, maybe I shouldn't complain so much. (Is anyone else shocked to learn that she's 37?) She still is real cute, though.

- Valentine's Day is 27 hours away. I know I've been a bit... er, whiny about the day in the past, but I'm more of a hopeful fan of the day and what it represents. Over the past few years, I've been a flower-sending fool, sending bouquets to friends and acquaintances near and far, from Austin to Oregon to Michigan. (Still looking for recipients for this year... ;) ) From what I've found, the more I can do to make others feel good on Valentine's Day, the better my Valentine's Day is. True, I'd like to have my happiness-increasing focused on one individual, but I guess I could use the practice working with many people.

- Speaking of love, I think I'm coming to the realization that I'm still not over Suzanne. How I change that, I have no idea.

- For future reference, when you're at Poker Night with a bunch of dudes, don't tell them that you saw "Brokeback Mountain" and expect not to be laughed at.

- Just got the latest issue of Men's Health yesterday. I'll be sure to bring up any interesting tidbits later on down the road.

- Been saving up for one of these things for some time now. (Currently, the tote board shows I'm 2/3 of the way there.) Here's my question: how do they hold up to a lot of shock? (i.e. while running or working out)

Happy Valentine's Eve, everyone.

Okay, time for some explanation...

I saw "Brokeback Mountain" with my friends V and C on Saturday evening. Somewhat depressing, in my mind. Some in the audience (including V) felt bad for the two lead characters. I felt worse for the women, myself. Two things I did enjoy about the movie? The scenery, and Anne Hathaway.

The movie was a part of the day I spent with V, C and C's hubby J. (I'd give my friends clever pseudonyms, but I'm not profgrrrrl, okay?) Lunch at the restaurant where he works (a reward for aceing a test given by a secret shopper), watching some Comedy Central and GSN, the movie, dinner at Chili's and dancing and drinks at a bar. It was a nice change of pace from my usual Saturday night routine. Of course, this only seems to happen whenever V is in town from Houston.

A certain ex-girlfriend of mine turns 27 this Friday. I got the idea in my head to send her an e-mail/text message wishing her a happy birthday. Thanks to Rae (and a friend from UT who's also familiar with the situation), I shan't do it anymore. Different reasons ("a boyfriend remembers a birthday, an ex-boyfriend forgets" and "I've played that game before"), but the same conclusion: it's a bad idea.

As for what I'm doing this week? Part of the plans just finished up, with a trip to a burger joint for some food, Budweiser, rockabilly and swing dancing. (I came for swing lessons, I almost ended up in an episode of Laguna Beach... more on that later...) I was planning to get together with K on Wednesday, but it turns out she has to work that night, so hopefully we'll get together soon. (I figure it's been about a month, I think I'm due another date, no?) But now, I'm off to bed. G'night.
